| Bio:
I was born in Terre Haute, and
attended “Laboratory School”
I have been a hairstylist for 35
years, and have always had a passion for creating. I was drawing
as far back as I remember. I was always receiving the dreaded
paint-by-number sets (hated those), and have loved sketching or
drawing; usually human forms or people -- not anyone in
particular.
When I was 13, using oil paints
from a paint-by-number set and a canvas covered piece of
cardboard, I prepared my first painting
—
it was of my father, who
had passed away the previous year. I was setting in the back of
a pickup truck at Deming Park, while the rest of my family
played and picnicked. As the painting started taking shape, I
was hooked!
During the Fall Semester of 1993,
I completed a wood-carving class at Indiana State University
taught by Professor Gates.
As a self-taught artist, I have
learned that painting what I feel (dreamlike images –they have
been described) is what I truly enjoy. |
